The webbing handle across the back is there to lift a tired dog out — onto a dock, into a boat, up a bank — by the jacket rather than by the collar.

How to measure. Use a soft tape. If you only have string, mark it and lay it against a ruler. Snug, not tight — you should be able to slide two fingers under the tape.

Between two sizes, size up. The straps take up slack; they can't add it. Chest measurements between 55 and 58 cm, or necks between 35 and 40 cm, fall between our S and M — take the M.

    A webbing handle across the back, sized for a full hand. When the dog is tired and the dock is too high, you lift by the jacket instead of by the collar.

  • Removable front float

    The float under the chin unclips. Most dogs want it for the first few swims; strong swimmers are steadier without it. The jacket floats the same either way.

  • Quick-release buckles

    Two side-release buckles across the belly plus an adjustable neck strap. On and off one-handed, with cold wet fingers.
